i forgot to mention three encounters at oxford.

1. the first wasn't really an encounter, but a general observation. people there love to say cheers. you give way to a cyclist on the road, and she'll smile at you and say cheers. you ask a passerby to help you take a photo, you thank him afterwards and he'll say cheers. i never knew that cheers could cover so many different meanings. (:

2. i was sending mumu off at his coach station before we parted, and when i waved bye to him the guy queueing behind him smiled at me and waved bye to me too. he probably mistook me for mumu's girlfriend or something, cos he was being sent off by his girlfriend too. but it still felt really nice, that a stranger would try to make your parting less sad (though our parting was really not sad haha). (:

3. then i went on to my coach station, which was a lot further away from the city centre. there was a huge open area beside the coach station, where a motorcyclist was practising his stunts. and then all of a sudden he fell off his bike and it seemed a really bad fall. everyone at the station turned to look at him. if you were him what would you do? he got up on his feet, turned to the audience at the station and bowed. everyone clapped and cheered for the guy while he mounted his bike and continued with his stunts. (:
